live pyrotechnic event

Smokescreens have the ability to simultaneously indicate and obscure activities. Whether being used by illusionists, filmmakers, stage-designers, or within military actions, a veil of smoke is often employed as a cloak to mask arrival and departure, appearance and disappearance.

Wicked Witch of the West,’ is a live event and subsequent photographic document referencing the moment the Wicked Witch of the West appears in the 1939 film the ‘Wizard of Oz’. This moment is marked by a red pyrotechnic explosion that cloaks the emergence and disappearance of the witch.
